outhouse magazine is an independent publication produced by outhouse gallery. it is a platform dedicated to showcasing new, diverse voices, a creative space for lovers of art and the written word. we want to focus on fostering the community of readers and writers, since we believe that words have the power to heal, transform, and bring people together.
outhouse magazine publishes essays and think pieces related to politics, art, culture, and society, as well as a variety of creative writings. the first issue which explored the theme of ‘home’ has been launched on the 21st of March, 2025.

What we are looking for:
- Essays and think pieces related to politics, art, culture, and society.
- Creative writings (all genres) that engage with the theme of URBAN DREAMSCAPES
About the theme:
This one is about the big cities. The way we dream about them, come to them chasing freedom and opportunities, and the way they are built from our desperation and a burning desire ‘to make it.’ It’s about the joys, the hopes, the people, and the uncanny beauty of endless metropolis – but also about the loneliness, the one you only feel surrounded by strangers; about the soul-crashing inequalities, claustrophobic apartments, drained savings, and dreams quietly abandoned.
It’s about how we shape the cities, and how they shape us. It’s about the promises, waiting for a miracle, and the price we pay for being here. About what pushes us to leave, and what pulls us to stay. About everything that makes it all worth it - or does it?

* Format: word / google document
* Limits: essays and fiction - max 1,500 words, poetry - up to 3 poems per submission.
* Only finalised works (no pitches)
